For several years, Terri York was plagued by spider bites, usually brown recluse or black widow, both poisonous. Each time she went to the doctor for treatment and a shot of anti-venom which took hours out of her busy day. Terri has a full time job interpreting at the high school, is involved in many church activities and runs her own business. Even though it had become a serious problem, and she was angry and frustrated each time, she eventually just accepted it as part of life.
Terri had been a Christian for many years, but she began to spend more time with God growing in her knowledge of Him and His will for her. Then she was bitten again, but this time, Holy anger rose up in her spirit. Now she knew this was not supposed to be part of her life, that it was an attack from the devil to distract her from doing God’s work. She took authority over the situation in Jesus’ name, spoke to the problem, cursing it at the root, just like Jesus taught.
Later, she remembered the bite and looked at where it had been. Praise God, it was completely gone, no redness or swelling, and she hasn’t been bitten since!
The next time you’re faced with a problem or a challenge, step out and be bold in the authority that you have been given in Christ, and remember Matthew 17:20: “So Jesus said to them, “… if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”
