In this course we will give the student a general overview of the 27 books that comprise our New Testament. We will study the themes, history, literary type, authorship and doctrinal emphasis. The student should leave this class with a more comprehensive understanding of the books that comprise the New Testament.
1. THE GOSPELS – In this lesson we will look at the synoptic gospels, as well as the Gospel of John.
2. ACTS: THE HISTORY OF THE EARLY CHURCH – – We will examine the Book of Acts and see the foundation of church history.
3. THE PAULINE EPISTLES – PART 1 – In this lesson we will look at the early epistles and the prison epistles of the Apostle Paul.
4. THE PAULINE EPISTLES – PART 2 – We will continue our study of the Pauline Epistles with the second part of the prison
epistles and the three pastoral epistles.
5. THE GENERAL EPISTLES – This lesson will cover what are known as the general epistles to the church. James; 1 & 2 Peter,
Jude; Hebrews; 1, 2, 3 John.
1. COMPLETE ALL WORKSHEETS AND READING ASSIGNMENTS: A worksheet and reading assignment will be given for each week. These are to be completed and handed back the following week. These will count for 25% of your final grade. Failure to complete the reading assignment constitutes failure to complete the worksheet. Failure to complete the worksheet constitutes a final grade of I (Incomplete) for the class.
2. TEST: This will be over all the materials covered in this class, and will count for 75% of your final grade.
3. READING ASSIGNMENT: Read all assigned reading in “Through the Bible Book by Book, Part 3 & 4” by Myer Pearlman. Failure to read the book will be a 10-point reduction of your final grade.
